Using websites and social media
Your organisation’s website and social media are your ‘shop windows’ to your customers, the wider outside world and anyone considering a job with you, including young people starting their career in housing.
Are you making the most of your website and social media presence?
Is your website up to date, topical, relevant, visually attractive and easy to read?
Do you review its content on a regular basis?
Do you have a recruitment and careers section?
Is your website attractive to younger people? (Suggest testing this out with younger staff members.)
Are there clear messages about your organisation’s values and the skills and qualities you’re looking for in potential employees?
Do you outline your commitment to ongoing learning and development opportunities for staff, including housing and related qualifications?
Using Social Media
Many housing organisations use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, but appealing to a younger workforce also means considering TikTok and Instagram to get your message across.
Have your reviewed the social media platforms you’re using and considered what more you could do to attract younger people?
Has your organisation considered taking part in the #NoWrongPath social media campaign supported by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), which runs every August?
