Care and Repair Handyperson

Care and Repair services provide free advice and practical assistance to help elderly and disabled householders continue to live safely and independently in their own homes. As a Care and Repair Handyperson, you will carry out minor adaptations, repairs or fit home safety and security measures, and undertake general household repairs and maintenance.

Your job is likely to include:

  • Establishing positive communication with clients

  • Installing and demonstrating the use of aids and equipment to clients

  • Assisting clients in securing the services of contractors for works that are outside the scope of the service

  • Ensuring accurate records and relevant paperwork are maintained, including community aids and equipment stock

  • Installing, demonstrating and uplifting telecare equipment.


Experience of working in a trade such as plumbing or joinery would be useful.
