Housing Officer

Housing Officers carry out the day-to-day management of homes in social housing. You will usually be responsible for a specific neighbourhood or ‘patch’. Most of your daily work is likely to be out of the office. 

Your job is likely to include:

  • Dealing with tenants’ queries and concerns 

  • Inspecting vacant homes 

  • Letting homes to new tenants

  • Advising on income management 

  • Managing rent arrears (including taking legal action where necessary)

  • Helping resolve neighbour disputes 

  • Referring tenants to other agencies

  • Working with other agencies, such as police and social workers.
